Dr Ynyr Hughes-Roberts
Ynyr is a Consultant Radiologist with sub-specialty expertise in musculoskeletal, rheumatology and sports imaging. His undergraduate medical studies were completed at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College, London in 2004. During his medical training he obtained an Intercalated BSc in Orthopaedic Science from University College London. He was based at the Biomedical Engineering campus at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He obtained his FRCR during his Radiology training at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and subsequently returned to Imperial College to complete a year-long MSK Radiology Fellowship. He is a member of the British and European Societies of Skeletal Radiology. Ynyr is a keen teacher and is a faculty member on the highly regarded Aintree and Cambridge FRCR 2b Courses. Ynyr was appointed as a Consultant in 2016 at the Royal United Hospital and also works at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Disease. Ynyr works closely with his musculoskeletal colleagues – Drs Graham Robinson, Richard Graham, Marianna Thomas and Gary Cross. Together they provide a complete Radiology service including MRI, CT and Ultrasound imaging. They offer a comprehensive interventional service, performing image guided steroid and high volume injections as well tendon barbotage procedures and shoulder hydrodistention. Image guided nerve root injections are also offered. These image procedures can be performed under CT, ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance. As a group they regularly work in the elite sports world including Premiership Rugby.
